Meet the Transition Management Board
Director of Inclusion – Interim chair
As Executive Director for Inclusion, Nicola Crossley has significant experience of working with schools to enhance the learning experience for all vulnerable learners; but particularly those who are disadvantaged and/or have special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND).
Nicola’s previous experience is varied having worked across Primary, Secondary, Mainstream and Specialist provision; she has also worked as a Consultant Principal to two Special schools and as a School Inspector.
With a Masters (MA) in Educational Leadership and Management and a Masters (MEd) in Practice-Based Educational Research, Nicola’s areas of professional expertise includes: school improvement through action planning and impact analysis; and leadership development through coaching and mentoring. She is currently a volunteer coach for the NCTL ‘Women Leaders in Education’ programme.
Nicola has written and led leadership development training for middle and senior leaders in Primary, Secondary and Special education in England, Wales and Jersey.
Having achieved the National Professional Qualification for Headship (NPQH), Nicola is nearing completion of her Doctorate in Education (EdD) where her research focuses on conceptualisations of professionalism for Head teachers and teachers in compulsory education in England, considered through the lens of Critical Discourse Analysis.
Nicola’s specialist interest are around Autism and SEMH and she is passionate about improving understanding and provision in these areas, in particular.
