Early Years

2022-2023

It has now been a year since the new Early Years Foundation Stage Statutory Framework was put into place and the Early Years Team have further refined the curriculum for the 2022-2023 academic year- you can see it by clicking here. It is a curriculum which prioritises the teaching of early language acquisition skills and relies upon the principles of the Foundations of Literacy as well as Launchpad for Literacy. We recognise the paramount importance of effective communication and language skills and this is the lynchpin of our curriculum.

The Early Years Foundation Stage is a special place to be and is very unique. To see why we do what we do, please click here to read our rationale.

Due to improvements in technology in addition to the specific mention of reducing burdensome paperwork in the Framework, we made the decision to step away from paper learning journeys last year and we have decided to continue with this. Instead, Seesaw is an app which is used to record observations where appropriate. Parents are signed up to Seesaw and they are able to interact with teachers and as well as looking at what their children are learning at school-they can also send photos and videos of what is happening at home.
