At Hatfield Academy, we believe that children achieve their best when families feel supported. We understand that there may be times when parents and carers need advice, guidance or additional support, and we are committed to working in partnership with families to help overcome any barriers that may affect a child’s wellbeing, attendance or learning.
Our staff work closely with families, local services and community organisations to ensure that support is available when it is needed. Whether you need advice about attendance, behaviour, mental health, finances or family circumstances, we are here to help.
Attendance support
Good attendance is essential for children to learn, thrive and succeed. If you are experiencing difficulties that may affect your child’s attendance, please speak to Mrs. Gibson as early as possible. We can work together to identify solutions and access additional support where appropriate.
Wellbeing and mental health
We recognise the importance of emotional wellbeing for both children and families. We can provide advice and signpost families to a range of support services, including counselling, mental health support, parenting advice and wellbeing resources.
Early help and family support
Sometimes families benefit from additional support from external agencies. We can help families access Early Help services, Family Hubs and other local support networks to ensure that children and families receive the right support at the right time.
Financial support
Families may be entitled to support with school meals, benefits or other financial assistance. If you are experiencing financial difficulties, please contact the school office in confidence. We can provide advice, guidance and signposting to local services that may be able to help.
Breakfast Club
At Hatfield we know how important it is to get a healthy start to the day. When children are hungry it’s much harder for them to concentrate, think clearly and be active.
We have a fantastic breakfast club in our school canteen from 8:00-8:25am where children can get toast and cereals for free.
Free School Meals
Free School Meals can help families save money while ensuring that children receive a healthy, nutritious meal during the school day. If your child is eligible, the school may also receive additional funding through Pupil Premium, which helps us provide extra support, resources and opportunities to enhance your child’s education.
We encourage all families to check whether they may be eligible, even if they are unsure. Applications can be made quickly and confidentially through Sheffield City Council:
If you would like support with an application, please contact the school office and a member of staff will be happy to help.
Special Educational Needs and Disabilities
Our SEND team works closely with families to ensure that children with additional needs receive the support they need to thrive. We value the expertise of parents and carers and believe that working together is key to securing the best outcomes for every child. If you have any concerns about your child’s needs please arrange to speak to the SENCO – Mrs Genders.
Safeguarding
The safety and wellbeing of every child is our highest priority. If you have any concerns about the welfare of a child, or if your family requires support, please contact a member of our safeguarding team. We are here to listen, help and ensure that children and families receive the support they need.
If you would like to discuss any aspect of family support, please contact the school office. All conversations will be treated sensitively and confidentially. You can raise concerns directly with Mrs Gibson, the Designated Safeguarding Lead at safeguarding@astreahatfield.org
Together, through Competence, Confidence and Care, we can ensure that every child and family receives the support they need to flourish.
Volunteering
Use your skills and knowledge to support the school by volunteering. We are looking for parents to get involved by supporting in-school learning, after school provision and school fairs/events. Volunteer application forms are available to collect from Reception. For more information about the volunteering process, please contact Mrs Blakemore.
