Admissions Policy
We operate an “open door” policy and prospective parents are welcome to visit the school. Please contact the school office to make an appointment prior to your visit.
The school follows the Local Authority (LA) Admissions Policy. Children whose fifth birthday falls between 1st September and the 31st August will normally be admitted to full-time schooling in a reception class in September. Children whose fifth birthday falls between 1st March and the end of August can if they choose be admitted to full-time schooling in a reception class later in January.
The LA is the admissions authority. All admissions to school at age five are administered by the Primary Admissions Team at Howden House.
If your application for a place at the Hatfield Academy is unsuccessful, parents have a right of appeal and should contact the Primary Admissions Team. The Admissions Working Party, an impartial tribunal, hears appeals; their decision is final.

Behaviour for Learning Policy
Teachers and pupils at the Academy should work together to establish and maintain a learning and social environment which emphasises positive behaviour and where care and concern for others are valued. Behaviour management is an integral part of the whole School curriculum, which teaches appropriate and relevant social skills to all pupils. This enables pupils to participate fully in the home, School and local community and prepares them for the responsibilities of adult life in an ethnically diverse society.
Charging and Remissions Policy
The aim of this policy is to set out what charges will be levied for activities, what remissions will be implemented and the circumstances under which voluntary contributions will be requested from parents.
The Governing Body of the School are responsible for determining the content of the policy and the Headteacher for implementation. Any determinations with respect to individual parents will be considered jointly by the Headteacher and Governing Body.

Home School Agreement
When your child becomes a member of the Hatfield Academy, you too, as parents and carers, become part of our academy community.
We regard it as a privilege to share with you the life and development of your child. Education is a shared enterprise in which the children, their families and the school participate. A positive relationship between home and school enhances a child’s attitude to learning, behaviour and motivation. We seek to encourage a shared commitment to the success of each individual by involving parents and carers as fully as possible in the life and work of Hatfield Academy.

Pupil Premium Policy
At Hatfield Academy, the use of the Pupil Premium funding will be targeted strategically to continue to narrow the gap between pupils from disadvantaged backgrounds and those from more affluent backgrounds. Pupils eligible for Pupil Premium funding are those who are known to be eligible for Free School Meals in the last six years, children who have been in the care of the Local Authority for 6 months or more and children of service personnel.
Teaching and Learning Policy
The aim of this policy is to guide and support teachers and classroom colleagues in ensuring that the best possible standard of teaching and learning is delivered to the pupils and that the quality of the teaching is consistent throughout.
