Safeguarding

We all have a statutory duty to safeguard and promote the welfare of children.

Mrs. J Gibson is the Designated Safeguarding Lead at Hatfield Academy.

If you have any safeguarding concerns, you contact the safeguarding team on safeguarding@astreahatfield.org or use the contact information sheet for telephone numbers.

If you have any concerns about the health and safety of a child at this education setting or feel that something may be troubling them, you should share this information with the appropriate member of the safeguarding team straight away.

Some issues e.g. a child’s appearance, hygiene or general behaviour can be shared with any teacher or member of staff within the school. Do not worry that you may be reporting small matters, we would rather you tell us things which turn out to be small, than miss a worrying situation.

However, if you think the matter is very serious and may be related to a child protection concern, e.g. physical, sexual, emotional abuse or neglect, you must talk to Jill Gibson on 0114 245 6871 or 07799001365.

School work with professionals to help families get support that they require. School can refer to a Multi-Agency Support Team (MAST) who can work with us to identify what support is required. On some occasions, school will need to work with the family to do a Family Common Assessment Framework (FCAF) which gathers information about the whole family.

Pupils learn about keeping safe online, using lessons planned by teachers and supported by our Computing Lead, Danielle Quarmby.

There is a useful website for parents/carers with activities for children to do around issues such as mobile phones, gaming, cyber bullying, social networking and more. The website is: https://www.thinkuknow.co.uk/

Hatfield Academy uses a secure recording system called CPOMS which is accessible to staff without our school. It is used to record pastoral and welfare information across school such as behaviour, bullying, safeguarding and medical issues. CPOMS enables us to track communication with parents and carers as well as pupils and external agencies.
