Year 4

Welcome to Year 4

Miss Brown and Mr Fogg are extremely excited about all the different things you will be learning about in your first half term in Year 4! Our text driver this half term is Charlotte’s Web.

Our first wider curriculum topic will be art- you will be learning how to sketch different types of spider webs and experimenting with water colours to create a water colour spider web. You will also be learning about the physical geography of Sheffield and how it has changed.

Our science topic is called ‘Where does all that food go?’ and we will be learning about the importance of a balanced diet and how our body digests food. We have some exciting experiments to try out too which will help you discover the different types of teeth you have.

In maths, our first topic is place value. We will be recapping how to partition three digit numbers using our place value skills and moving on to recognising and partitioning four-digit numbers.

In English, we will be reading a range of different text types across Autumn 1. Our first book is called Cinnamon. Cinnamon is a young princess who has eyes that are made of pearls and therefore she can’t see. To enjoy this book, we will be completing a wide range of text types which include diary entries and letters.
