Year 1

Welcome to Miss Elliott and Miss Pape’s Class Page

 

Here you will find lots of information and pictures of the exciting things we have been doing in class!

It will also be updated with class news and links to websites that you may find helpful to support your child’s learning.

We will have Mrs Cartwright and Mrs Hoyland supporting us with our learning.

Phonics

In phonics, we will be following Read Write Inc to help us learn our letters and sounds.

English

In English, we are going to read the book Lost and Found by Oliver Jeffers. We will be doing lots of writing and write their own story.

Maths

In maths, we are going be counting and sorting numbers, finding one more and one less and comparing numbers.

Science

In science, we are going to be learning all about different animals. We are looking forward to grouping and sorting different animals. We will also learn about the different parts of our bodies and how they are different or similar to animals.

Wider Curriculum

We are going to be using the book Bog Baby to inspire our learning.

In art, we are going to be creating self-portraits.

In design technology, we are going to make our own bog babies.

In geography, we are going to learn about our local area.

PE

Apollo – Monday and Tuesday

Venus  – Tuesday and Wednesday

Please remember to come to school in your PE kits on those days.

Homework

Reading

Please read with your child every day for at least 15 minutes and return their books each day.  We will be supporting the children in changing their own books at the end of each day. Please make sure you have something for books i.e a book bag for books to go home with.

The books will be cleaned each day before they are sent out.

Children will be able access to Numbots- watch out for more information to be sent home.
