At Hatfield Academy, we believe that learning extends far beyond the classroom. Our enrichment programme is carefully designed to provide every child with memorable experiences that broaden horizons, develop talents and inspire a lifelong love of learning. Every opportunity we provide is intended to deepen learning, build character and prepare children for the future through our commitment to developing competent, confident and caring young people.
We are committed to ensuring that enrichment is accessible to all. The vast majority of our clubs and enrichment opportunities are offered free of charge, removing financial barriers wherever possible so that every child has the opportunity to take part, discover new passions and develop new skills.
Our enrichment offer is built around five key strands: arts and culture, sports and physical activity, nature, outdoor learning and adventure, civic engagement, and wider life skills. Whether experiences take place during lessons, before or after school, on our school site or further afield, every child is encouraged to explore new interests, develop resilience, build friendships and create lasting memories.
Co-Curricular
Our co-curricular enrichment is directly linked to classroom learning and forms an important part of our curriculum. These carefully planned experiences help children deepen their understanding by bringing learning to life and providing real-world contexts for what they study.
Throughout the year, children enjoy educational visits, visiting authors, artists and experts, theatre performances, workshops, STEM projects, outdoor learning, museum and gallery visits, careers encounters, enterprise activities, themed curriculum days and residential visits. These experiences help pupils make meaningful connections across subjects, ask ambitious questions and develop a greater understanding of the world around them.
By enriching the curriculum in this way, children become more competent learners through applying their knowledge in authentic contexts, more confident in trying new experiences and sharing their learning, and more caring by developing empathy, cultural understanding and appreciation of different people, places and communities
Extra-Curricular
Learning is not limited to the school day. Our extra-curricular programme provides children with opportunities to discover new interests, develop existing talents and build friendships beyond the classroom.
We offer a wide range of before-school, lunchtime and after-school clubs, sporting competitions, music and performance opportunities, pupil leadership roles, community projects, fundraising events and enrichment activities throughout the year. Many of these are delivered by our staff, while others are supported by trusted local organisations and specialist providers, ensuring children have access to a broad and varied programme.
Taking part in extra-curricular activities helps children develop resilience, teamwork, leadership and independence. Whether representing the school in sport, performing on stage, taking on a leadership role or trying something completely new, every experience contributes to helping children become competent, confident and caring individuals who are well prepared for the next stage of their education and life beyond Hatfield Academy.
