World Book Day in Y5

Today, we dressed in our comfy clothes, brought in our favourite books and spent the day considering ‘reading for pleasure’. We completed many activities regarding reading; we became detectives, authors and also readers. Y5 Neptune visited the library to investigate the many types of books that we have at school whilst Y5 Orion got their creative minds working by writing their own story about a bizarre object.

Teachers heard fantastic book talk between pupils but where also able to have these fantastic discussions with the children too. It was fantastic learning about each child’s favourite book and seeing the passion that they had for it.

Each class in school have been lucky enough to get some brand new books which we all had a look at today. In year 5, we have a mix of new picture books, fiction books and non-fiction books. We can’t wait to have a read of each one.
